This wikisite, http://japanesephotography.wikispaces.com, was created as part of my follow-on plan from participating in the Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund (JFMF) Teacher Program. I was one of 150 educators from the Unites States and one of three from Illinois that participated in a three week cultural and educational journey to Japan during the fall of 2008.One of the primary objectives of the program is to have the participants share with their classroom, school and community what they learned and experienced through a variety of outreach programs. So, this site allows me to share my student work with people exploring Japanese photography.
The western approach to teaching the history of photography falls short and fails to address the evolution worldwide especially with Japan. So, while incorporating the school wide initiative on literary I’ve created a four week unit on the evolution of Japanese photography for my photography classes.
Please enjoy searching the site and feel free to leave a comment.
